작품의 배경은 영국의 브래드필드(Bradfield)로, 이 곳에서 발생한 범죄에 대해 브래드필드 경찰서와 임상심리학자 토니 힐(Tony Hill)이 함께 수사를 벌여 나간다는 내용. 정통 수사물과 심리 스릴러가 적절하게 섞여 매우 진지하며, 그 긴장감 역시 상당히 수준 높은 편.
